Saline Township covers almost 35 square miles of Washtenaw County, and includes the City of Saline which is located in the township’s northeast corner. Saline Township real estate has grown considerably over the last decade. Real estate in the township is attractive because it offers a great combination: a peaceful, rural setting not far from the energetic city of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan. Saline Township real estate is also close Ypsilanti and Eastern Michigan University, and it is about 49 miles away from Detroit. Saline Township’s population is about 2,075 and its real estate and quality of life have led to significant growth over the last decade. In fact, since 2000, the Township has grown almost 60 percent. Saline Township’s growth has come in part from the fact that it offers a quieter, more rural lifestyle only about 15 miles (depending on exact location) from Ann Arbor, the home of the University of Michigan.

Ann Arbor is a cosmopolitan, small city of around 114,000 with attractive employment opportunities, excellent restaurants, and great entertainment and sports including Michigan Wolverines athletics. While Ann Arbor is most famous because of the academics and sports at the U of M, it boasts a growing economy beyond the University. Google and Barracuda Networks, for example, are two companies with a growing workforce here. In fact, in June of 2012, Barracuda announced major plans to renovate a large part of the former Borders Bookstore building and to more than double their workforce, from 180 to well above 400.

Ypsilanti, Michigan – home of Eastern Michigan University – is only about a dozen mile drive from the farther reaches of Saline Township. This pleasant college town boasts its own major university, a member of the Mid-American Conference, and is a major provider of employment in the area.

For those looking for a little bit of elbow room, population density here is only about 55 people per square mile, so Saline Township real estate offers a sense of space not easily found in Ann Arbor.

Median home cost in Saline Township is about $250,000, and with continued growth in Ann Arbor and the steady economic impact of having two major universities nearby, one can reasonably expect Saline Township real estate values to hold relatively steady. Schools

Saline Area Schools administers public education for Saline Township. Saline High School (Grades 9-12) is located in Pittsfield Charter Township, just east of the City of Saline. Finished in August 2004, Saline High School is the largest in Michigan with approximately 480,000 sq ft. It has 54 general classrooms, a sizable library, an eight lane stretch pool, two gymnasiums (a 2,200-seat gymnasium and an auxiliary gym), an auditorium seating 1,100 and a television studio.

Students in grades 6-8 attend Saline Middle School which moved into the "old" High School on Maple Road for the school year 2006-2007. Saline Middle School accommodates up to 1,100 students plus a Senior Center which occupies a wing of the facility. Elementary age students attend Heritage School (Grades 4-5), Woodland Meadows (Grades K-3), Harvest Elementary School (Grades K-3) or Pleasant Ridge (Grades K-3).
