Livingston County, Michigan, stretches across nearly 586 total square miles of south-central Michigan, only about 17 square miles is water that rests in, or flows through, the county's borders. The Brighton State Recreation Area blankets nearly 5,000 acres just a few blocks west of the city's borders, and offers about 40 miles of biking, skiing and hiking trails, as well as three campgrounds containing more than 200 campsites.
